GENESEO, Ill. — Wyffels Hybrids is expanding its footprint in western Indiana for the 2027 growing season, marking a milestone for the family-owned seed corn company as it celebrates 80 years in business.
Company leaders said the move reflects continued demand from farmers seeking independent seed companies focused exclusively on corn.
“We aren’t trying to be all things to everyone,” said John Wyffels, president of the company. “As the only independent company focused exclusively on seed corn, we grow when we have the customer experience, agronomy support and distribution strength to back it up.”
The company is also expanding into northeast Nebraska in 2027.

Over the last 10 years, Wyffels has tripled its business and is now a top three seed corn brand in the central Corn Belt.
Wyffels leaders said they are investing in new agronomy, sales and customer support roles to provide services to farmers.
They have boosted production capacity in recent years, including a new facility in Ames, Iowa, as well as expansions in Atkinson, Illinois.
“While others in the industry are tightening, we’re investing,” said Bruce Howison, chief commercial officer at Wyffels.
“We believe deeply in what we can offer farmers — great hybrids and service across the central Corn Belt — as they pursue a more productive and profitable corn crop.”
