From the Fields: In quarantine

2020 is in the books for us, and this will be my last From the Fields report for the year. Dad finished up fieldwork over the weekend. I was unfortunately self-quarantined as my youngest had a positive COVID-19 case at his day care and he ended up getting a cold early last week, but he and the rest of the family all tested negative, so that was a big sigh of relief.

We did get some lime put on and brought the ripper back out to rip an 80 and some head rows that were very compacted from rain and trucks hauling out. Now we’re cleaning up the rest of our equipment and making some repairs to some tillage equipment before putting them away for the season.

We sure have had a nice jump in prices recently. Hopefully, we can sustain these prices for a long while. I hope everyone had a safe harvest. Happy Thanksgiving and happy holidays!
