Quinlan: Celebrating soy

I had the chance to be a part of agricultural history as the American Soybean Association celebrated its 100th anniversary right here in Indiana.

ASA was founded in Camden, a small town in northern Indiana. One hundred years later, the organization is stronger than ever.

It felt so good to be back in the field. To see people exploring soybean acres. To watch old friends say hello and catch up. It was refreshing.

I watched as a historical marker was unveiled to a crowd of onlookers. I couldn’t see through their masks, but I could tell by their eyes that everyone was smiling.

I listened to a poem and a song about soybeans. I ate a delicious meal and savored some homemade ice cream. There are some things you just can’t do on a webinar.

I missed this.
