Lasting impact: State FFA officers prepare for unique convention

TRAFALGAR, Ind. — Despite the 91st Indiana FFA State Convention being held online in a nontraditional format due to restrictions put into place limiting face-to-face gatherings in June to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the 2019-2020 Indiana FFA state officer team is hoping the convention leaves a lasting impact on FFA members.

The Indiana FFA State Convention will be held virtually June 16-18, and the FFA state officers, who are living back at the Indiana FFA Leadership Center, have been busy creating a jam-packed and unique FFA convention for members.

Reporter Taylor Roy: "I am looking forward to seeing how we keep members engaged online. We will have student workshops, including one with 2019-2020 National FFA President Kolesen McCoy. We want them to tune in and be excited. Just because the state FFA convention is different, it doesn't mean it won't be fun."

Treasurer Noah Berning: "I have to admit it was nerve-wrecking at first planning the convention virtually, but it's going to be cool and interesting. I am excited to see what FFA members get out of it."

Sentinel Eion Stephens: "I'm excited to see how much of an impact the convention has. In-person convention doesn't reach as many members because not all members get to go. This FFA convention is something members can tune into."
