Quinlan: 5 ways to hurt your farm

If you follow my blog, you know I’m a list-maker. It helps me to put my thoughts and ideas in a row.

This week, I had a new idea — instead of tips to try, it’s a list of things to avoid on your farm.

There are a million mistakes to be made, and we all make them. But here is a short list of surefire ways to hurt your operation.

1. Don’t communicate. Keep everything bottled up inside. Assume everyone else on your farm can read your mind.

2. Don’t write down your goals. Wing it and hope for the best.

3. Don’t continue learning. Never attend field days or explore the latest research. You’ve learned everything by now.

4. Don’t worry about safety. You haven’t been hurt so far, nothing bad will happen.

5. Don’t share your feelings with loved ones. You have an appearance to keep up.

Instead, do the opposite of all of these. You and your farm will be healthier for it.
