Guide to growers: New horticulture guide features local greenhouses, nurseries and growers

INDIANAPOLIS — Hoosiers are beginning to start their search for flowers and bedding plants to landscape their yards and plant a garden.

Indiana Grown recently released the Indiana Grown Horticulture Guide, which is its newest guide of members who run local nurseries, greenhouses and sell locally-grown products throughout the state.

Heather Tallman, the marketing and communications manager for Indiana Grown, said the guide helps consumers find local producers who sell horticulture products.

“The horticulture guide has all members listed county by county,” said Tallman, who added that the guide also lists what kinds of products the members have to offer.

Tallman said the guide was released right before Mother’s Day and was extremely popular with the public.

She said a post Indiana Grown put up about the new guide received more than 1,000 likes.

“It’s a bright source of happiness and way to put out information.”

Tallman said there are over 70 Indiana Grown members in the horticulture guide, and they sell a wide variety of products, including houseplants, trees and fresh-cut flowers.
