WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Students at Purdue University celebrated Ag Week — a tradition of student-led events hosted by the College of Agriculture.
Ag Week was established in 2012 to celebrate agriculture and promote agricultural education.
Here’s a look at the ag-centered activities held daily April 1-5.
Milk Monday
Students enjoyed free milk and grilled cheese sandwiches distributed by Purdue’s Dairy Club. They also learned about the dairy industry and interacted with cattle — which were visiting campus from the Purdue Animal Sciences Research and Education Center.
Tech Tuesday
Agricultural technology, including drones, were on display for students on Memorial Mall. Businesses showed off their equipment and answered questions.
Burger Bash Wednesday
Indiana Beef Cattle Association partnered with Ag Week to serve beef, turkey and plant-based burgers to students.
Following the burger bash, the Ag Week Task Force hosted Cultivating Conversations — a public forum to discuss ag with experts at Purdue.
Also on Wednesday, the Ag Expo was held for students to learn about opportunities within the ag industry.
Hammer Down Hunger Thursday
Volunteers packed 65,016 meals through Pack Away Hunger — an organization that provides meals locally and internationally.
Farm To Fork Friday
Farmers from around the state talked with students about what it’s like on their farms.
Organizations such as Indiana Pork answered questions and handed out giveaways for students to take home.
