Purdue ag students returning to classroom

Q&A: Karen Plaut

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Although many college campuses are still holding class in a virtual setting, Purdue University’s College of Agriculture is trying its best to get students back in the classroom.

Purdue University’s Glenn W. Sample Dean of Agriculture Karen Plaut answered questions about this school year.

How has the spring semester been going so far?

“Spring has been going very well. COVID-19 cases on campus are not spiking.”

Are most classes being held in person, or are they being held virtually?

“About 75% of lectures are being held in class. During Purdue Ag Week, students were out on Memorial Mall.”

How did Purdue students celebrate Purdue Ag Week?

“During Ag Week, students were out on Memorial Mall, and on Milk Monday, they handed our cheese and ice cream, which were pre-packaged. Our students are great at getting the word out about agriculture. Things are going well as the semester begins to wind down.”

How is enrollment for next semester looking?

“Enrollment is looking good for next semester, although it is too early to tell for sure.”
