A lot to be thankful for. What a change in weather. Well, it has been a great fall with a lot of nice weather, but I don’t think we are ever ready for the winter weather to arrive — at least, I am never ready.
As we reflect on the year, it is pretty easy for me to say that it has been a good one. Even though things could always be better, we also know they could be much worse, as well. I know in my area the crop will be remembered as a good one.
After several seasons of challenging springs that left the fall harvest disappointing — and, in some cases, very disappointing — it was nice to have a nice start and a nice finish with a good crop. I know for many it was not the best yields they have ever had, and some were thinking it would have or could have been better than it ended up. Others did have the best crop on some farms.
I know many have remarked the poor farmers did better than the good farms in comparison, which was uncommon. But I think it will be remembered as a good crop for most. I have enjoyed sharing my views of what is taking place out in the fields in my area. I hope everyone has a great holiday season and winter. I also hope for a even better 2017.
