Women were officially allowed full membership in the National FFA Organization in 1969.
During the convention, FFA members opened up about what it means to them to celebrate the 50th anniversary of women being allowed to become FFA members.
“It shows that women are as equal as men in farming. Women play big roles, and there are just as many women today who own ranches and farms.”
“My entire family has been in FFA for years now. My mother was never able to join because she was born in 1963, and even though women were allowed in FFA in 1969, her father wouldn’t let her join. All of my sisters and cousins have been FFA members, and my family is very involved in agriculture.”
