It was fairly quiet on the farm the past seven days. Shop work continued but we took it slow and easy. I traveled to Shipshewana, Indiana, with some friends to do the Amish/flea market experience. We had a blast. We stayed one night at the Farmstead Inn and one night at the Blue Gate Inn. Both hotels were great. We shopped the flea market for nearly six hours and then found the store with porch swings and rested for a while. We shopped the town the next day before heading home but not without stopping at every antique store along the way. To say we were exhausted would be an understatement.

I’m headed to the State Fair this morning for the Taste from Indiana Farms event. There’s just one weekend left to make your visit to the fair.

Crops look good across the state, although some better than others. My safety tip this week is for machinery maintenance: Don’t just rely on hydraulics to keep equipment raised. Employ a safety stand in addition. Farm safety cannot be stressed enough at any time.
