It has been hot. We didn’t get skipped on any of the heat last week. We were still able to stay productive, but drank a lot of water with extra sweating going on. Not a lot of anything real interesting going on. Just trying to get equipment cleaned up and checked to be ready for fall. We tried putting tile in, but it decided to rain on us, so we quit and then 2 1/2 inches later we weren’t able to do much. We still have some beans to haul out of seed Becks finally released for us to get rid of.

Our early corn is getting prepared to be sprayed with fungicide, and we will be prepping the sprayer to spray fungicide on beans. Hoping we can get started on planting cover crop on the prevent plant acres and on our wheat stubble acres this coming week. We will be planting cereal rye, oats and mustard on the prevent plant acres, then crimson clover and radishes on the wheat stubble acres — trying to make the best of a rough situation with not having a crop growing on these acres. Might even try and bale some of it for hay to sell this winter. Seems there will be a real feed shortage in the coming year with all the prevent plant acres and lack of hay been baled of much quality.

Hope everyone catches some rain to keep things going this week and gets a break from the heat. We are happy to see the rain keep coming as the late crop and shallow roots will need constant water.
