More rain and dreary weather. We seem to be in a pattern of drizzly rain and cool temps. We haven’t been able to get any fieldwork done this week. We have been very busy putting tile in. At this point, I’m not sure there is much more maintenance that can be done to help us be ready. We’ve checked and double-checked the planters. When we get our window, we will be ready to go. Conditions have been very favorable for tile. So, at least, we have been busy.
Along with the dreary weather, we laid to rest a very dear friend and landlord this week. Dad has farmed for the family for almost 25 years. He was always a joy to talk to. Even during his last days, he only had one concern in life — that was to take care of his wife. You could never do anything at their house without them offering a Snickers bar and Pepsi or cookies. We all will truly miss him. I will mostly miss his calls just wondering about the weather and how the farm was. He will be truly missed.
We look forward to having a few days of nice weather coming. Might even get some fieldwork done. But we’ll see how it shakes out. We really aren’t able to forecast more than just a few hours ahead successfully.
Stay dry and stay safe. As we all work crazy hours, don’t forget to eat right and rest, or our families will be saying goodbye to us.
