Well, summer has begun, for sure. Seems like we went from April weather to August overnight. The heat has really helped the early corn and also brought along the wheat. As of writing this, we tested one field Saturday, but we are headed to get started running this week. With rain in the forecast, we’re gonna try and knock out what we can. So far, test weight looks good and quality is good. All subject to change still. Hearing lots of reports of vomitoxin and disease. So, we feel very fortunate to not be dealing with that.
We are still trying to replant some beans that didn’t make it. The stuff planted June 7 and 8 seems to be the worst about rotting or getting eaten. So far, we will replant about 75% of what was planted those two days. On top of that, it’s county fair week. I have one niece showing pigs this year for the first time — so starts the long tenure of hopefully my nieces and my girls being involved like we were. Hope everyone has a great Fourth of July.
