We finally received some rain Tuesday morning. It wasn’t much, but it was welcomed. We had 0.3” at my house and the fields near me and 0.5” on our fields farther south of me. Our corn still looks really good, but if we don’t get anymore rain we may have small kernels on our corn.
Our beans look good, but are still short and the rows haven’t completely closed still. Since the rows haven’t closed yet, our retailer has decided to ground spray our beans instead of aerial spray them for fungicide and insecticide.
I was walking around in a few bean fields last week and noticed some weed escapes. Right now, the weeds are shorter than the beans, so I’m hoping the rows close soon so they can choke the weeds out. Hope every one had a good start to August.
