It was a dry week for us last week. We only received one-tenth of an inch at my house. Some of our fields received a few more tenths. Our corn is still looking very good. I did hear that east of me near Galesburg there was some green snap on April planted corn Sunday night during the severe thunderstorm. Our beans are growing well, too.
We did get some of our fields sprayed at the end of last week that needed sprayed. I was in Bloomington last week, and there were quite a few fields that were prevented on my way there and back, so I’m not sure where U.S. Department of Agriculture got its acreage numbers from, but it seems like it overstated the corn acres and understated bean acres. We started hauling corn this week, and it sure was nice and hot when we were unloading the bin. Hope everyone had a good Fourth of July.
