It has been quite the week for us. Last week on Tuesday night, we had very bad storms roll through with 60 to 70 mph winds and hail. On every acre of corn, we have had some level of damage, and the 50 acres of beans we had planted were extremely damaged. The corn seems to be recovering, but the beans may need to be replanted.

Over the weekend, I saw a lot of planters going between Peoria and Home. We were able to start planting beans again Monday. It was still a little wet, but dried out enough that we could plant. It took a while to get going as I had to make a lot of adjustments to the planter with different conditions than we are used to. Once the adjustments were made, we were moving right along.

We received 2.7” of rain last week, but with the dry weekend along with the wind and sun, the dust was rolling behind field cultivators and planters. It’s a relief to finally be back in the fields. Hopefully my son’s baseball games will not be canceled anymore.
