We had another wet week receiving 2.5 to 3 inches of rain across all our fields. I’m hearing higher and lower rainfall amounts other places, so it seems we were right in the middle. Our corn looks really good right now — dark green, and some of it is already knee-high. Some of the corn we replanted may get drowned out again, if we don’t dry out a little bit.
Our beans are coming up nicely. I haven’t taken population counts yet, but I suspect the germination rate was in the mid to high 90% range. We really need to dry out, so our retailer can spray the no-till bean ground. We have a lot of weed pressure in those fields right now. Dad and I attempted to fix tile holes last week and finished one right as the rain started coming. We have a few more still to fix, but need it to dry out before we can fix those. Hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July!
