Over a month of dry weather now. Hard to believe I’m saying that after the spring we had. We missed the rain Sunday night and Monday morning. It was pushed southeast of us. Our corn still looks good, but could really use a couple inches of rain right now.

Fungicide has been sprayed on all our cornfields. From what I can see, everything pollinated well. I’m starting to see corn fire due to lack of nitrogen and nutrient uptake. It’s a little concerning as it’s firing up near the ear now and could potentially decrease yield, if we don’t get a good soaking rain in the next week or so.

Our beans still look good, but are lagging in development. Some fields are getting close to closing the rows, but I would say over half are still a ways away from closing. In the fields that are not closed, I’m seeing some weed pressure come back in. A soaking rain would definitely help with growth and closing the rows to choke out the emerging weeds.
