WABASHA, Minn. — A human leg — from femur to foot with the shoe still on — was found Saturday afternoon in the Mississippi River.
According to a press release from the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call at about 4:50 p.m. that human remains were found while a resident was cleaning out a debris pile about 20 feet from shore south of Lock and Dam No. 4 in West Newton near Kellogg.
UTICA — A Utica man was arrested Sunday night after opening fire with a semi-automatic rifle and attacking a vehicle that was parked outside his house, leaving the driver with non-life-threatening injuries.
No other signs of human remains were located.
The area was searched again on Sunday. No other items of interest were located.
Chief deputy Jim Warren said an investigation into the matter is ongoing. More information will be available after a report is issued by the medical examiner’s office.
