This week brought very high temperatures with rain on Saturday evening amounting to 1 inch. Most have finished planting on the up ground. Some reports in the river bottoms say that seep water is still leaving ground too wet, and some are flying on soybeans. Weeds are growing faster than the crop. Remember to spray on weed size rather than crop size. Wheat harvest has started in the area with yields from 30 to 70 bushels per acre. Test weights have been from 45 to 58. Haven’t had any reports of vomitoxin yet. Did have one grower report AgriPro Branson yielding in the low 90s with test weight of 58 pounds. We will start Monday if the ground will let us. Many who have wheat are going to double-crop soybeans. This past weekend our town of Woodson had its 150th anniversary. Hat’s off to all that put it together as all events were very well attended until Saturday evening when the rain came. It’s amazing how a group can come together to get things done. Have a safe Fourth of July!
