CAMPTON HILLS, Ill. – Schools will be organizing field trips to Student Harvest Days from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 4 at Garfield Farm & Inn Museum.
Volunteers and staff will demonstrate historic farm and household skills of the mid-19th century in this 366 acre setting with two historic houses, eight barns and outbuildings with a collection of historic breeds of livestock and poultry.
The morning includes tours of the 1846 brick inn and farm house that Timothy and Harriet Garfield and their eight children from Vermont established on the Illinois prairie. A tour of the prairie is included and frost will determine the status of the antique flower garden and field crops.
Cost is $5 per person and space is limited. The general public is invited to attend the Harvest Days event from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 13.
