BELVIDERE, Ill. — Award-winning country artist Sara Evans along with special guest Mark Chesnutt will perform at the Boone County Fair, Saturday, Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m.

The Boone Country Fair runs for six days, Tuesday, Aug. 6, to Sunday, Aug. 11.

The grounds will be packed with over 5,000 head of livestock with everything from rabbits to alpacas to sheep to draft horses. In addition, there will be 4,000 non-livestock exhibits such as quilts, flowers, photographs, posters, vegetables and much more.

Take time to browse through the 400 vendors and merchants selling and promoting all types of goods, services and tasty food items. Take a break at the Entertainment Pavilion where fairgoers will find free local entertainment of all types starting at noon every day. Stop by there on Wednesday at noon and see WGN radio broadcaster Orion Samuelson.

The Talent Contest, including both a junior division for ages up to 14 and senior division for ages 15 to 21, is planned for Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. in the Entertainment Building. Prizes will be awarded for first, $200; second, $150; and third, $100.

There’s more free entertainment throughout the grounds, from high flying trapeze artists to a wild world of animals show. There will be 200 antique tractors of all types, a 4-H petting zoo and magicians.

The harness and colt racing is set for noon on Wednesday at the grandstand, and on Friday, the Mutton Bustin ride-off qualification will be held at 1:30 p.m. also at the grandstand.

Buy a ticket to one of the grandstand shows, including truck and tractor pulls, bull riding, and demo derbies. Don’t miss the Boone County Fair Queen and Little Miss Pageant, which is free to attend at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Take a spin on a thrill ride at the Midway by Skinners Amusements. Ride specials will be available from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday. The Grange Food Stand will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There’s always something new to enjoy at the Boone County Fair. Visit the rebuilt horse arena with new fencing and lights.

Owned and operated by the Granges of Boone County, admission to the fair is $6 per person.
