VALPARAISO, Ind. — Whether you want to listen to good music or watch baby livestock play, there’s something for the entire family at the Porter County Fair July 18-27.

“We have a lot of exciting new things at the Porter County Fair this year,” said David Bagnall, fair manager.

“We have some great concerts. Luke Combs, one of the hottest singers in country music, is playing at one county fair in the entire U.S. this year — Porter County. We sold out in the first 20 minutes.”

Darci Lynne, winner on America’s Got Talent, will take the stage on opening night of the fair.

Christian band the Newsboys will take the Grandstand July 20, and Diamond Rio featuring Sawyer Brown will perform July 21.

Another feature of this year’s fair is a Hispanic cultural day, featuring activities and a Mexican band the first Sunday of the fair.

Fairgoers also can enjoy the $3.5 million renovated expo center.

“We had nine months of renovation,” Bagnall said. “It’s totally new and beautiful inside. We’re excited to showcase that at the fair this year.”

Enjoy eating fair food under the tent at the new food court. Visitors also will find more parking spots this year.

“We’ve hired tribute bands playing in the evening during the week of the fair, everything from an oldies ‘60s group to an Eagles tribute band to an Elvis impersonator,” Bagnall said.

Inside the birthing barn fairgoers can find baby sheep, cows and pigs.

“We bought a fiberglass cow that is a milking simulator,” Bagnall said. “People can experience what our forefathers did to milk cows.

“With the Porter County Fair, our bylaws state that we’re an educational resource. That’s what we strive to do.”

Traditions such as 4-H contests, pageants, draft horse shows and midway rides will round out the fair.
