MONMOUTH, Ill. — Crop disease and invasive pests — of the
winged and leafed varieties — will be hot topics in Monmouth next week.
The Northwestern Illinois Agricultural Research and
Demonstration Center 2013 Field Day starts at 8 a.m. on July 17 at the center,
321 210 Ave., Monmouth. The final tour will leave before 8:30 a.m.
The agenda includes sessions on Goss’s wilt in corn; western
corn rootworm resistance to Bt; and Palmer amaranth and the possibility of its
adaptation in western Illinois.
Management topics include changing crop rotations and
agronomic and environmental assessment of cover crops.
