MILAN, Ill. — A pasture tour is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug.
27, at the Ron Fargo farm.
The tour site is at the junction of 162nd Avenue and 63rd
Street. From Sherrard High School, head east on County Road NN — 176th Avenue —
for one mile, then north on 63rd Street for one mile.
The tour starts at 5 p.m. and will consist of a hay wagon
tour with stops to discuss fencing types, watering systems, prescribed grazing
techniques and erosion and sediment control practices for pastures.
In addition, Joe Gates, Natural Resources Conservation
Service district conservationist, will give an overview of the Environmental
Quality Incentives Program, which is designed to encourage adoption of many of
the conservation practices showcased during the tour.
A complimentary meal will be served at the end of the tour.
Participants can bring lawn chairs for seating during the meal.
