MADISON, Wis. — Even though Alltech’s sixth annual Global 500 convention for beef and dairy producers will take place more than 3,700 miles away in Dublin, Ireland, Oct. 1-3, attendees at the World Dairy Expo in Madison will have the opportunity to take part in this year’s event.

Keynote presentations and the debate from the Global 500 will be streamed through the Alltech Ag Network at Alltech’s booth, EH 3201-3304, throughout the tradeshow, and a premiere showing will be held at Alltech’s hospitality reception at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the Sheraton Hotel Suite 802.

“We want to add to the excitement and passion at World Dairy Expo and provide a direct link to dairy farmers on both sides of the pond,” said Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech. “By bridging the Atlantic and bringing these two events together, we aim to unify the global dairy industry and together explore the latest issues, envision opportunities for a sustainable future and showcase some of the world’s greatest entrepreneurs in the dairy industry.”

The Global 500 is being held for the first time in Ireland as part of The Gathering Ireland, an initiative aimed at showcasing Ireland’s potential to the world through various national events in 2013.

Last year’s Global 500 saw more than 700 delegates from 30 countries come to Lexington, Ky. This year’s event looks to top that figure as projections show 2 million cows will be represented in Ireland.

This year’s Global 500 agenda will open with the theme of an Efficient, Profitable and Sustainable future and will feature a session on the global dairy food industry outlook with representatives from Rabobank, Nestle, EDF and Glanbia.

Other sessions will examine the latest nutritional applications, case studies from major global dairy innovators, investment management and succession planning and how to build a brand and communicate effectively.

Continuing the theme of showcasing international agriculture, Global 500 2014 will have a distinctly French flavor as attendees follow Alltech to France for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy , continuing their global dairy and beef journey against the backdrop of these landmark games and centuries of French culture and cuisine.
